First day done! We arrived safely at Pete’s in St. Louis safe and sound yesterday afternoon, so excited to actually be on the road.
Leaving Ohio we passed through Indiana, which was a little ho-hum after having raced in the state so much this summer.
Next up was Illinois, which was a little more exciting, if only for the newness factor. Pete actually lives outside St. Louis on the Illinois side so that was the end of our journey for the day.
Several times this summer I thought it wouldn’t happen, but we are officially on the road!
Our first destination will be St Loius, where we will be staying with Ben’s cousin Pete. After visiting with him for a few days, we’ll be driving straight through to Denver.
Yea!
Life on the road will require lots of small items, such as mini-toiletries.

In the spirit of flexible planning, we have pushed our departure back a day. We spent a little too much time dealing with a car situation the past few days (not to fret, all is well) so while we could have left this morning, we decided against a packing all-nighter. We will instead spend today tying up a few loose ends and then will have plenty of time to load up the car to the brim before heading to St. Louis tomorrow.

Ben and I are setting off tomorrow on the Sweetest Road Trip Ever, a trip that will take us all the way out to Vancouver, down the West Coast to San Diego and then back to Ohio…and many places in between.
